Preschool – Kindergarten (3-6 years)
The Montessori method is used to help children grow socially, emotionally and cognitively. This classroom is structured with multiple work areas to facilitate ongoing curricular objectives. They will continue to develop their self confidence by working at their own pace. They also choose their own materials and the teacher observes and assesses the child’s progress to decide which new materials should be introduced.
Our curriculum materials reach through the third grade level, allowing for advanced-level learning in math, reading, language, science, geography, and culture studies for those who are ready for it.
It’s wonderful to see an older child guiding the younger the ones and looking out for them like a family member. In contrast, the younger children watch the older children work on more challenging work and long for the time when they too, can accomplish those same tasks. This fosters a sense of community rather than competition within the classroom. You can witness children working side by side, one just beginning to connect an object with its beginning sound, and the other quietly writing a paragraph about something new they have learned.
